Probably in Territorial Army. During WW1 became Sergeant in "A" Company (Boston), 4th Battallion, Lincolnshire Regiment. 138th Brigade, 46th Division. Biletted in Ware, Herts where he met Nellie Hills. Wartime occupation was as a motor driver.
Wounded during a charge on 13th Oct 1915. Spent time in a London Hospital.
Believed to have worked as a bus conductor after the war.Died in 1923 probably as a result of his injuries or possibly as a result of later gassing.

Met Albert Sawyer when he was billeted in Ware. Lived in Sheffield but moved back to Ware after husbands death to live with children and mother. Worked as a cleaner.

Re-married to Jube Youngman . All contact was broken after Nellie's death

Buried cremated Parendon Wood Crematorium, Harlow
Occupation: Civil Servant, Tax Officer
Worked as a tax officer.

Stationed in Alwick, Northumberland during WW2. Travel to wedding in 1941 was said to have been difficult.

Died of cancer of the liver.
